The Food/Feed Safety and Renewable Energy Summer Hands On Research program is a 10 week summer internship held at Texas A&M University from May 28 to Aug 2, 2024. Selected students will work with expert faculty in Food Engineering, BioEnergy and Bioprocessing Engineering, and Post-Harvest Engineering to design sustainable solutions for our growing world.
Throughout the years, numerous undergraduate students specializing in Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Food Processing, and other engineering-related fields are selected on a national scale to participate in the USDA REEU Scholars program. These scholars will undergo training in the interdisciplinary fields of food chemistry and engineering, engaging in a range of activities including research, Extension programs, professional development, and networking opportunities.
Through our FRESH program, students not only gain knowledge but create modern learning tools like social media videos. Technology-infused modules enhance competence and perception. Join us in reshaping agricultural engineering education and exploring its transformative potential.
The goal of FRESH is to:
1) Offer undergrads a hands-on research journey, expanding their knowledge in food safety & microbial modeling.
2) Uncover how Atmospheric Cold Plasma (ACP) affects food and feed, enhancing their shelf life.
3) Cultivate skills for postgraduate studies and nurture mentorship and leadership abilities via educational modules.
